The barriers children face
As the charity’s work grew, it became clear that medical treatment alone was not enough.
Children who had received successful treatment for club foot or prosthetic support were still facing significant challenges when it came to education. Many schools lacked safe classrooms, accessible toilets, clean water and facilities that could properly support children living with disabilities.
For some families, sending a child to school simply did not feel possible because the environment was not safe or accessible.
These barriers prevented children from accessing the opportunities education can provide.
Why education matters
Education plays a vital role in helping children build independence and long term opportunity.
A safe school environment gives children the chance to learn, build confidence and develop skills that can shape their future. It also gives families hope that their children will have greater opportunities later in life.
Without access to education, children can remain isolated and opportunities become far more limited.
That is why this work has become such an important part of the charity’s mission.
Improving schools
Through the School Alliance Scheme, the charity works to improve school environments so children can learn in spaces that are safer, more inclusive and better equipped to support them.
This includes improving classrooms, sanitation facilities, access to clean water, kitchens, furniture and wider infrastructure that directly impacts daily school life.
These improvements help remove barriers that have prevented children from accessing education for far too long.
Supporting communities
Improving a school benefits far more than one child.
It helps teachers deliver education more effectively, supports families and creates stronger communities where children are given greater opportunities to succeed.
By investing in schools, the charity is helping create long term change that extends well beyond the classroom.
Looking ahead
There are still schools that need support and children who continue to face unnecessary barriers to education. The School Alliance Scheme remains focused on creating safer, more accessible learning environments so more children can build brighter futures.
